Varalakshmi Vritham, is a religious function celebrated by the TamBram women, especially Iyer community. It falls during the Shravana month of the Tamil Calendar, on a Friday. The practice of performing this puja, depends on their ancesteral path. In my father’s side, they do not have the habit of doing this puja, whereas my husband’s side, they do perform this in a very grand manner. My husband is very deep rooted in Hindu religion, and he loves Varalakshmi Vritham. Whatever time, the previous night of the puja, he comes back, he stays put up and fixes the Amman Mandapam, and decorates it with the traditional banana tree, mango leaves etc.
This year too, it was a great day!
